A Cali kid through and through, AJ La Joya is a jack of all trades – a rapper, singer, songwriter, and producer that effortlessly blends sounds into a musical gumbo of sonic delights. Using a base of hip-hop and R&B, AJ leverages his diverse ear to create infectious melodies and witty bars.

 

As a child, AJ spent hours rummaging through his parent’s vast record collection - a musical haven of genres ranging from smooth jazz, soul, and 90s hip-hop. He would often find himself recreating his favorite songs on the piano by ear and even freestyling rhymes over video game themes.

 

Fast-forward to the pandemic-filled atmosphere of 2020 and creativity is born out of isolation. With added encouragement from a friend, AJ started taking music seriously and slowly began uploading remixes and original songs like “Rich Demeanor” to Soundcloud. In 2021, he released songs like “Make It Happen” an ode to his West Coast roots, and “Hallucinate” his foray into synthpop.

 

With each new release, AJ constantly delivers an array of diverse songs by unapologetically exploring his sound. AJ La Joya is a dynamic artist full of surprises. There are many sides to the Cali kid, and we are just beginning to scratch the surface.
